Internal Meeting in Progress - The Productivity Illusion - Part 7

 Time: 11:06 AM

Location: Office Desk
Status: Logged in, Not Present

Laptop open. Excel sheet staring back.

Brain: Today we focus. No distractions.
Heart: Just one quick check.
Body: I support “quick.”

Brain: No. We already checked 9 times.
Heart: What if they posted a story?
Brain: WHAT IF WE DID OUR WORK?
Body: That sounds unrealistic.

Time: 11:09 AM
Instagram opened “just for 2 seconds”

Brain: This is how it starts.
Heart: This is how it continues.
Body: This is how we survive office.

Story Available.

Heart: THEY POSTED.
Brain: Calm down. It’s just a story.
Body: I paused breathing for this?

Story opened.

A song playing in the background.
No text. Just a view from a window.

Heart (softly): This feels… lonely.
Brain: This feels normal.
Body: This feels like background noise.

Heart: Why do I feel like they want someone to understand this?
Brain: Because you are assigning meaning.
Heart: Because it has meaning.
Body: Because we skipped breakfast.

Time: 11:15 AM
Story replayed 4 times

Brain: Enough. Close it.
Heart: One more time. For clarity.
Body: For no reason.

Time: 11:22 AM
Back to Excel. Numbers look personal now.

Brain: Focus. Complete at least one task.
Heart: What if that song means something?
Brain: IT DOES NOT.
Body: I cannot process numbers or emotions right now.

Manager walks by.

Brain: Look busy. FAST.
Body: Typing random keys.
Heart: What if they also listen to that song?

Brain: STOP CONNECTING EVERYTHING.
Heart: I can’t help it.
Body: I typed “asdfgh” in Excel. Hope that helps.

Time: 11:40 AM
Message typed (unsent):

“Hey… I liked your post.”

Brain: Delete that immediately.
Heart: It’s simple. It’s harmless.
Brain: It’s unnecessary.
Body: It’s too much effort to send.

Message deleted.

Heart: What if we regret not saying anything?
Brain: We will regret saying something more.
Body: I regret being awake.

Time: 12:05 PM
Checking if they saw the like. Again.

Brain: THIS IS NOT TRACKABLE DATA.
Heart: It is emotional data.
Body: It is wasting battery.

Time: 12:28 PM
Lunch approaching. Work not.

Brain: We’ve done nothing.
Heart: We’ve felt a lot.
Body: I need food before I collapse.

Heart (quietly): Do you think… they ever feel like this too?
Brain: Statistically unlikely.
Heart: Emotionally possible.
Body: Physically irrelevant.

Brain: This is affecting our productivity.
Heart: This is affecting our existence.
Body: This is affecting my hunger.
