My Roommate is a Ghost… and She Won’t Pay Rent! - Ghost War - Part 14

The next morning…

Meera woke up angry.

Which was impressive.

Because technically…

she didn’t sleep.

Raghav entered the hall carefully.

Meera sat on the sofa.

Arms crossed.

Plotting crimes spiritually.

“…You okay?” he asked carefully.

“No.”

“Still upset?”

“No.”

“You’re doing the angry eyebrow thing.”

“These are haunted eyebrows.”

Doorbell rang.

Both froze.

Meera whispered dramatically:

“The enemy arrives.”

Raghav opened the door.

Karan stood there.

With three workers.

And confidence nobody requested.

“Morning!” Karan smiled.

Meera immediately booed from behind him.

Loudly.

The workers looked around nervously.

“…Did someone say boo?”

Raghav answered instantly.

“No.”

Meera: “BOOOOO.”

One worker crossed himself emotionally.

Wrong religion.

Correct fear.

Karan ignored it.

“We’ll start measurements.”

Meera floated beside Raghav.

“If they touch the kitchen, I riot.”

“You don’t even cook.”

“I emotionally supervise.”

The workers entered carefully.

Tape measure out.

Tools ready.

Hope alive.

Temporary condition.

One worker stepped near the wall.

Meera whispered:

“Absolutely not.”

The measuring tape suddenly flew away.

Straight out the window.

Silence.

Worker blinked slowly.

“…Sir.”

“Yes?”

“I think this building rejected measurement.”

Raghav looked exhausted already.

Karan frowned.

“Probably wind.”

All windows were closed.

Meera smiled proudly.

“Wind with attitude.”

Another worker opened toolbox.

Every screwdriver immediately rolled away together.

Like synchronized swimming.

“NOPE,” one worker said instantly.

“I have children.”

He walked out.

Professionally resigned.

Karan looked annoyed now.

“This is ridiculous.”

Meera floated directly behind him.

“Yes.”

Suddenly—

the lights flickered violently.

Fan spun aggressively.

TV turned ON.

Volume 100.

A dramatic serial screamed:

“YOU BETRAYED THIS FAMILY!”

Perfect timing.

Workers panicked immediately.

One man almost cried.

Another started praying to all available gods together.

Raghav stood there.

Emotionally unemployed.

Karan tried staying calm.

“This is some electrical issue.”

Then the sofa moved.

Slowly.

Toward him.

Karan stopped talking.

Meera whispered proudly:

“Attack couch.”

The sofa moved faster.

Karan ran.

Actually ran.

Building-owner dignity destroyed completely.

Door slammed shut behind him.

Silence.

Beautiful silence.

Then—

Meera jumped onto the sofa proudly.

“VICTORY.”

Raghav stared at her.

“You terrorized workers.”

“They invaded my kingdom.”

“This is a rented apartment!”

“It’s emotionally owned.”

Raghav sat down laughing suddenly.

Couldn’t stop.

Meera blinked.

“…Why are you laughing?”

“You chased a grown man using furniture.”

“It was strategic warfare.”

Raghav laughed harder.

And Meera just watched him again.

That soft smile returning.

“You know,” she said quietly,
“you laugh a lot now.”

Raghav looked at her.

Still smiling slightly.

“…You too.”

Pause.

Then suddenly—

Doorbell again.

Both froze.

Raghav opened the door carefully.

Karan stood there again.

Hair messy.

Confidence dead.

“…Your apartment is haunted.”

Silence.

Meera whispered proudly:

“Recognition at last.”

Raghav sighed deeply.

“No, it isn’t.”

Right behind him…

Meera slowly floated upward.

Fully visible from Karan’s angle.

Hair floating.

Eyes glowing slightly.

Absolute horror-movie entry.

Karan saw her.

Stopped breathing emotionally.

Spiritually.

Financially.

Meera smiled sweetly.

“Hi.”

Karan screamed.

Loud.

Historic scream.

Ran away immediately.

From the staircase below:

“I DON’T WANT THIS BUILDING!”

Door closed slowly.

Silence.

Raghav turned toward Meera.

“…You showed yourself.”

She shrugged casually.

“He annoyed me.”

Raghav stared.

Then suddenly laughed again.

The kind that hurts stomach.

The kind that feels free.

Meera smiled softly.

Mission accomplished.

But later that night…

after the chaos settled…

Raghav looked at her quietly.

“You know someday…”

he stopped.

Meera looked back carefully.

“Someday what?”

Raghav forced a smile.

“…Nothing.”

But the unfinished sentence stayed there.

Heavy.

Painful.

Waiting.

Because both of them knew something now.

Ghosts could scare landlords.

Move sofas.

Destroy peace.

But no ghost…

could stop time.
