Where the Sunrise Waited - The Guide Who Knew Too Much - Part 4

The Guide Who Knew Too Much

The small hill town had fully awakened.

Sunlight poured over the sloping rooftops, and the narrow streets were filled with the sounds of morning life.

Shopkeepers arranged woolen shawls outside their stores.
A man pushed a cart filled wi8th fresh apples.
Tourists walked slowly, stopping to take photos of the mountains surrounding the town.

Aarav and Kabir stepped out of Sunrise Brew Café.

Kabir looked satisfied.

“That paratha just saved my life,” he declared.

Aarav adjusted the strap of his backpack and began walking down the street.

But Kabir had already spotted something interesting.

A large wooden board stood near the town square.

It read:

“Local Adventure Tours — Hidden Waterfalls, Secret Trails, Old Mountain Temple.”

Kabir’s eyes sparkled immediately.

“Bro,” he said, grabbing Aarav’s arm. “This is our next plan.”

Aarav glanced at the board without much excitement.

“You planned this trip. You decide.”

Kabir grinned.

“Perfect.”

Meanwhile, just a short distance away, Meera and her friends had also stopped near the same board.

Riya was reading it out loud dramatically.

“Hidden waterfalls… secret trails… old temple… wow, this place sounds like a mystery movie.”

Dev folded his arms.

“Or a tourist trap.”

Meera stood quietly beside them, reading the smaller details written below.

That’s when a voice spoke behind them.

“You people look like the curious type.”

Everyone turned.

An older man stood there, leaning casually against the wooden railing.

He looked to be in his late fifties, with silver hair, sharp eyes, and a warm but slightly mischievous smile.

He wore a thick woolen jacket and held a walking stick.

“I’m Raghav Singh,” he said. “Local guide.”

Kabir stepped forward instantly.

“Perfect timing, Raghav ji! We were just thinking about exploring.”

Raghav studied the small group in front of him.

Then his eyes moved slightly… noticing the other three standing nearby.

Meera, Riya, and Dev.

He smiled knowingly.

“Ah,” he said calmly. “Looks like the mountain already brought together two groups.”

Kabir laughed.

“Not together… just coincidence.”

Riya whispered to Dev, “Sure… coincidence.”

Raghav tapped his walking stick lightly on the ground.

“Well,” he said, “if you're planning to explore, I know places that most tourists never find.”

Kabir looked impressed.

“Like what?”

Raghav pointed toward the distant mountains.

“There is an old trail beyond the northern ridge,” he said slowly.
“It leads to a hidden waterfall… and an abandoned temple older than this town.”

Dev raised an eyebrow.

“That sounds suspiciously like a horror story.”

Raghav chuckled.

“No ghosts,” he said.
“Just history.”

While everyone discussed the idea, something strange happened.

A sudden gust of wind blew through the square.

The folded page inside Aarav’s notebook slipped slightly out again.

This time it fell completely.

It landed on the ground.

No one noticed.

Except Raghav.

The old guide bent down slowly and picked it up.

His eyes scanned the handwritten lines for a moment.

And something about his expression changed.

Very slightly.

Then he handed the paper back to Aarav.

“You should be careful with important things,” Raghav said calmly.

Aarav took it, slightly confused.

“Thank you.”

Raghav studied him for another second before turning back to the group.

Kabir clapped his hands excitedly.

“Alright! Hidden waterfall trip! Who’s coming?”

Riya immediately raised her hand.

“Adventure!”

Dev sighed.

“I regret being friends with you.”

Meera remained quiet, but she didn't object.

Raghav nodded slowly.

“Then meet me here tomorrow morning,” he said.

“Sunrise again?”

Kabir groaned.

“Mountains always begin their secrets at sunrise,” Raghav replied with a mysterious smile.

The two groups began to move in different directions again.

Still no real conversation.

Still strangers.

But now they were heading toward the same journey.

As Raghav watched them walk away, he muttered quietly to himself.

“Interesting…”

Far above the town, the mountains stood silent.

And somewhere along those hidden trails…

A story much bigger than any of them imagined was waiting to unfold.
