Just Google It - How to Be Happy (In 10 Minutes or Less) - Part 7

Riya woke up with a decision.

Not a plan.
Not a strategy.
Not even a checklist.

A decision.

👉 Today, I will be happy.

No overthinking.
No productivity pressure.
No impressing anyone.

Just… happiness.

She sat up.

Smiled slightly.

Then immediately reached for her phone.

“…Just to make sure I do it correctly.”

Search: “How to be happy instantly”

She read carefully.

Very carefully.

Tip 1: Smile More 😊

Riya nodded.

“Simple.”

She smiled.

At the mirror.

At her reflection.

At herself.

Held it.

Held it longer.

“…Why does this feel like a passport photo?” she whispered.

Her cheeks started hurting.

She dropped the smile.

“Okay… natural happiness is better.”

Tip 2: Listen to Music 🎶

“Yes,” she said.

“This will work.”

She played her favorite song.

Closed her eyes.

Started vibing.

For a moment—

Everything felt light.

Easy.

Happy.

Then suddenly—

An ad interrupted:

👉 “Upgrade to premium for uninterrupted happiness.”

Riya opened her eyes.

“…Even happiness has ads?”

Mood: slightly damaged.

Tip 3: Practice Gratitude 🙏

“Think of things you’re grateful for.”

Riya sat down.

Closed her eyes.

“I am grateful for…”

She paused.

“My bed.”

“Yes.”

“My phone.”

“Also yes.”

“My job.”

“…sometimes yes.”

She smiled.

Then her brain added—

👉 “Remember when you almost got fired?”

“…Not helpful.”

Tip 4: Do What You Love ❤️

Riya thought.

“What do I love?”

Silence.

She blinked.

“…I should Google that.”

Search: “How to find what you love to do”

She stared at the results.

Then leaned back.

“This is becoming complicated.”

Tip 5: Stay Away from Negativity 🚫

“Positive environment = happy mind.”

Riya nodded.

“Yes. No negativity.”

She opened social media.

Scrolled.

Someone got promoted.

Someone got engaged.

Someone went on vacation.

Someone bought a house.

Riya stared.

“…I am logging out.”

Negativity successfully found her first.

Reality Check

Time: 6:30 p.m.

Riya sat on her bed.

She had:

  • Smiled painfully
  • Danced to half a song
  • Tried gratitude
  • Questioned her life
  • Avoided social media (after emotional damage)

“…Am I happy?” she asked herself.

She thought.

Really thought.

“…I don’t know.”

She picked up her phone slowly.

Search:
“Why is it so hard to be happy”

She read quietly.

👉 “Happiness isn’t a constant state. It comes and goes.”

Riya blinked.

“…So you’re saying…”

She sat up.

“…I don’t have to be happy all the time?”

Silence.

She looked around her room.

Messy.

Comfortable.

Real.

She smiled.

A small one.

Not forced.

“…This is okay,” she said.

No background music.
No big realization.
No life-changing moment.

Just…

Okay.

A Small Shift

She didn’t open another tab.

Didn’t search for “next steps.”

Didn’t make a plan.

She just lay down.

Looked at the ceiling.

And for once—

Her mind wasn’t racing.

Not perfectly calm.

But not loud either.

Somewhere in between.

Peace… maybe.

10 Minutes Later

She picked up her phone.

Paused.

“…Just one last thing.”

Search:
“How to know if you are actually happy”

She stared at the screen.

Then laughed.

“…I don’t think Google knows either.”

She kept the phone aside.

And for the first time—

She didn’t wait for an answer.

Because maybe…

👉 Happiness wasn’t something you search.
👉 Maybe it was something you notice.

Small. Quiet. Imperfect.

Just like that moment.
