The abandoned hall fell silent.
Four armed men blocked the doorway.
Behind them stood Narasimha Rao.
The missing archivist.
The man they had trusted.
The man they had protected.
The man who had betrayed them.
For several seconds, nobody moved.
Nobody spoke.
Then Prakash broke the silence.
"Why?"
The old man's eyes filled with sadness.
"You think I betrayed you."
"You didn't?" Prakash snapped.
Narasimha looked down.
"No."
The armed men stepped aside.
A woman entered the chamber.
Emerald-green eyes.
Long dark hair.
Calm expression.
Leela.
At last.
Not a shadow.
Not a rumor.
Not a ghost.
Standing before them.
Real.
Alive.
Prakash immediately raised his revolver.
"Don't move."
Leela didn't flinch.
Instead, she looked directly at Aditya.
"You're wasting time."
"That's usually what criminals say."
A faint smile appeared on her face.
"I'm not the one hunting you."
Aditya watched carefully.
Something felt different.
She wasn't afraid.
She wasn't hostile.
Most importantly...
She wasn't surprised to see them.
As though she had expected this meeting for years.
Narasimha stepped forward.
"Listen to her."
Prakash laughed bitterly.
"After all this?"
The old man nodded.
"Especially after all this."
Leela walked toward the stone tiger.
"The Society is broken."
Ananya frowned.
"The Society?"
"The group that protected the cipher."
Leela's voice echoed through the ruined hall.
"For decades, we guarded the truth."
She looked at the Second Key.
"Then greed entered."
"Varma?" Aditya asked.
Leela slowly nodded.
"Not Raghavendra."
Everyone looked surprised.
"His father."
A heavy silence settled over the chamber.
Leela continued.
"Thirty years ago, members of the Society discovered evidence."
"Evidence of what?" asked Ananya.
"The theft of royal assets."
"The betrayal Narasimha mentioned?"
"Yes."
She nodded.
"Several influential families secretly diverted wealth and records during the final years of the kingdom."
Aditya listened carefully.
Every piece finally seemed connected.
"The cipher hides proof."
"Exactly."
Ananya stared at Leela.
"My grandfather was part of the Society."
"He was."
"Then why didn't he tell me?"
Leela's expression softened.
"Because he wanted you safe."
For the first time, Ananya saw genuine sorrow in her eyes.
Not deception.
Not manipulation.
Regret.
Suddenly one of the armed guards rushed inside.
Panic covered his face.
"They found us."
Leela's expression hardened immediately.
"How many?"
"At least ten vehicles."
Narasimha closed his eyes.
"They came faster than expected."
Within seconds the atmosphere changed.
The guards moved into position.
Weapons ready.
The building transformed into a fortress.
Aditya stepped toward Leela.
"Who is coming?"
She looked directly at him.
"Raghavendra Varma."
Moments later headlights appeared outside.
Dozens of them.
Approaching through the darkness.
Engines roared.
Dust filled the air.
The hunt had reached them.
Leela turned to Aditya.
"There is another way out."
"A tunnel?"
She nodded.
"Beneath the falls."
"Falls?"
"Shivanasamudra."
Aditya's eyes widened.
The famous waterfalls.
One of Karnataka's most dramatic landscapes.
Within minutes they were fleeing through hidden passages beneath the ruins.
Ancient tunnels stretched deep underground.
Torchlight danced across stone walls.
Water dripped from the ceiling.
The roar of falling water grew louder.
And louder.
Until it became deafening.
Finally they emerged onto a rocky ledge overlooking the mighty falls.
Moonlight shimmered on rushing water.
Mist filled the air.
The sight was breathtaking.
And terrifying.
Then gunshots echoed from the tunnel entrance behind them.
The pursuers had arrived.
A chase began across the slippery rocks.
Prakash exchanged fire while the others ran.
Aditya grabbed Ananya's hand.
"Careful."
She nearly slipped.
For one brief moment she held onto him tightly.
Neither let go immediately.
Neither seemed to notice.
Ahead stood an ancient stone shrine half-hidden by mist.
Leela stopped suddenly.
"There."
She pointed toward a carved symbol.
Three interlocked circles.
The mark of the Society.
At its center was a small metal lock.
Exactly the shape of the Second Key.
Aditya stared.
"The next clue."
Leela nodded.
"The truth is waiting inside."
Before anyone could move forward, a voice echoed across the falls.
Cold.
Confident.
Dangerous.
"Thank you for finding it."
Everyone turned.
Standing on the rocks across the mist-covered gorge was a man in a dark coat.
Surrounded by armed guards.
Smiling.
Raghavendra Varma.
